An Easy DIY Mother's Day Gift

Cookie Jar
With Mother’s Day right around the corner (okay next week!) I thought it would be fun to share an easy but thoughtful DIY gift idea: Cook With Me Cookie Jar! The ingredients are simple and cost effective, plus it’s the perfect crafty yet personalized gift for mom. Even better, include a note with the jar about how these cookies are meant to be baked while you two are together—after all, most moms want nothing more than a little mother-daughter time and this is the perfect gift to give her just that.

Here are all the steps courtesy of AllRecipes .

What You Will Need
  • 1 quart sized glass jar (you can pick these up at most craft supply stores, like Michaels, or empty and clean out another jar from your pantry)
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
After you have assembled the jar of ingredients, write the following cooking instructions on a small card and tie the card onto the jar of ingredients with some ribbon explaining that the cookies are to be baked while you and mom are together.

Cooking Instructions
  1. Combine the flour, baking soda, white sugar, and the chocolate chips. Place 1/2 of the mixture in a clean quart sized glass jar, and pack firmly. Place the brown sugar on top, again packing firmly. Place the remaining flour mixture on top. Cover with a lid.
  2. Attach an index card with the following directions: Empty contents of jar into a large bowl. In separate bowl combine 3/4 cup of butter, 1 1/2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add to dry mixture. Drop by tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
Before giving the jar of ingredients to your mom, I suggest tying on some extra pretty ribbons and bows to add a nice finishing touch!
